Auteur, compositeur, chanteur, artiste engagé et écorché vif, Mano Solo est mort ce dimanche.
Une voix déchirante, reconnaissable entre mille, des textes engagés, d'une sensibilité à fleur de peau, c'est un grand artiste qui s'est éteint ce dimanche 10 Janvier. « J'ai deux nouvelles, une bonne et une mauvaise. La bonne, c'est que je ne suis plus séropositif. La mauvaise, c'est que j'ai le sida !» déclara-t-il. Hospitalisé le 12 Novembre, après son concert à l'Olympia, cette maladie et de multiples ruptures d'anévrisme l'ont finalement emporté à l'âge de 46 ans.
« Je suis mort, mais rien n'est fini, il reste ma voix et bien peu d'écrits. », chantait-il, dans l'album « je sais pas trop » en 1997.
Avec ses chansons entre rock, jazz et manouche/musette, Mano Solo, Emmanuel Cabut de son vrai nom, fils du dessinateur Cabu, croise la route du succès en 1993 avec son album « la marmaille nue ». Il raconte dans ses chansons la mort, ses années dope et déglingue, chante son mépris du pouvoir, son amour de Paris, et parle de sa maladie.
Engagé politiquement, il a animé une émission de radio « qui donne la parole à ceux qui ne l'ont pas », « Le Clou de la soirée ».
Il remporta notamment trois disques d'or, et possédait aussi un don pour la peinture et le dessin. Il réalisait lui-même ses pochettes de disques. Voilà un artiste de talent qui disparaît à son tour, et que le monde de la musique regrettera. Mais comme il le chantait : « Tant que quelqu'un écoutera ma voix, je serai vivant dans votre monde à la con ! »
Le Maire de Paris, Bertrand Delanoë, ainsi que le Ministre de la Culture, Frédéric Mitterrand, ont tenu à rendre hommage à l'artiste, à son engagement, son courage et à son talent.
